Description

Liquid Propulsion / Prometheus Project Manager in the Prometheus Programme Unit (STS-FP), Future Launchers Preparatory Programme (FLPP), Future Preparation, Directorate of Space Transportation.

You will be supporting the ramping-up of system and service-oriented demonstration projects to be implemented in the roadmap for future liquid propulsion preparation.


Duties
As a Programme Manager, you will be responsible for the Prometheus programme and other assigned liquid propulsion projects in the following areas:

  • Elaboration and implementation of the logic of activities in line with objectives and the industrial organisation, in compliance and in close collaboration with other relevant FLPP activities;
  • Elaboration of elements for ESA delegate bodies;
  • Definition of industrial activities and establishment of statements of work;
  • Management of and participation in the evaluation of offers and the negotiation of contracts;
  • Management and execution of industrial contracts up to completion in accordance with scope, budget and schedule;
  • Management of and participation in assessments of the proper implementation of relevant contracts;
  • Preparation and organisation of reviews and key points.

Other tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • providing support for future space transportation preparation technology and demonstration roadmaps, including analyses of existing liquid propulsion technologies and capacity use cases;
- the preparation of programme elements relating to liquid propulsion for space transportation;
- the development of internal and external networks;
- the establishment, organisation and management of the relevant internal and external technical support, notably the definition of the support to be provided by ESTEC and the technical assistance provided by the national agencies to the FLPP Programme Team for relevant activities;
- the establishment and follow-up of the cooperation agreements with relevant national and international space agencies concerning participation in and contributions to the assigned activities;
- communicating project outcomes when relevant, both internally within ESA and externally at workshops and conferences;
- providing support to the competent entity within the Directorate for the development of a coherent European policy on space transportation research and technology.

You will be assisted as necessary by support staff in areas such as Project Control, Contracts, Legal Affairs and Quality, and will be supported by engineers from the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality, as well as national agencies within the FLPP Technical Assistance scheme.

Education
A Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required.


Additional requirements

You should have:
- knowledge of the European and global space transportation sectors;
- knowledge of launcher propulsion systems, particularly reusable systems, as well as innovative technologies;
- general knowledge of industrial production and its economic aspects;
- demonstrated project lead experience;
- demonstrated negotiation skills;
- professional experience in the space transportation industry;
- experience in system engineering;

- demonstrated leadership, relationship management and communication skills, both oral and written;
