    About the job

    General objective:

    The Logistician carries out logistics management of his/her base, in compliance with donor and SI procedures.
    He/she implements and supervises all logistics operations at his/her assigned base.
    He/she organizes logistic support for programs, in compliance with SI procedures.
    He/she assists the field coordinator in the implementation of safety rules.
    He/she supports, monitors and trains the members of his/her team.

    The main challenges:

  • Due to the ongoing conflict, the SI mission in Sudan has significantly increased its activities and funding (from , USD at the end of March to over 15 million USD in for ).
  • Transition between emergency phase to structuration phase
  • Very volatile context with high humanitarian needs and looming famine
  • Priorities for the 2/3 first months:

  • Launch of ERM project : Purchase for prepositionning of prog items
  • Recrutement and training of new staffs (purchaser, log/admin ERM, log ope)
  • Link Implementation with transition to normal procedures
  • Opening of Zalingei Sub-base
  • Your profile

    Education / academic background:

    Bachelor or Masters degree in related field (business, international relations, etc)

    Specific skills and experience:

  • 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector
  • 3-4 years of experience on a similar position
  • Strong experience in procurement, supplies and storage in conflict area
  • Experience in supporting base scale up and/or sub base opening in volatile conflict context
  • Experience in team management and capacity building of team members
  • Work under pressure
  • Adaptability
  • Strong initiative capacities
  • Language:

  • Fluent English
  • French is an advantage
  • Arabic would be a strong asset

    A salaried position:

    According to experience, starting from EUR gross per month ( base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of USD .

    SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment.

    Breaks: During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months (with a USD break allowance, allocated by Sl). To these breaks periods, SI grants one additional rest day per month worked.

    Insurance package: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which refunds all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.

    LIVING CONDITIONS:

  • Guest House conditions : GH is simple but nice, 3 bathrooms with running water/showers (cold water), 2 squating toilets + 1 western toilets / private room / outside space. Electricity back up that allows 24/7 electricity. No AC.
  • Internet and telephone network: Good satellite internet in office and in GH. 4G mobile network available with some network cuts, sometimes for a few days. No problem to watch netflix or youtube for instance. Whatsapp calls totally ok.
  • Restaurant & social life: No restaurants validated for now. no sport facilities in the base or easily accessible. Limited social life, few INGOs in town, curfew at 7pm.
  • SECURITY:

    Very volatile context. Level 4. Very limited movements
