Christie's, the world's leading international auction house, is hiring a Client Strategy Manager, France & Belgium to work in the Client Strategy team in Paris.

The Role

Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
The Client Strategy Manager is responsible for France and Belgium within the EMEA region.


80% of their role focuses on supporting the client base that collects in 20/21 category working with the key business getters and finding mainly sourcing opportunities be it immediate or mid to long term.

20% of the role focuses on developing business in Belgium.


The role will have a dotted reporting line to the French President who the Client Strategy Manager will partner with on key French related business getting as well as top client engagement, Masterpieces and 1+ client relationships where the Company needs to strengthen its position.


Client Strategies for Collectors and Collections:

  • Responsible for the strategy of France's grade 1+, 1 client and grade 2 clients (top 25% of this client base)
  • Responsible for the strategy of all Belgium's grade 1 clients, grade 2 (focusing on 20/21 collections worth $25m+ or key objects in collections or buyers/bidders transacting over $1m
  • Partner with the Manager on all 1+ clients in Belgium
  • Partner with the Analyst on any collections outside 20/21 and Design owned by 1 and 2 graded clients

Partner with Top CTLs:

  • Carry out annual CTL review
  • Partner with the CTL during the year
Client Reviews for Top Clients in France and Belgium:

  • Drive, prepare and follow up actions for the weekly client strategy call with the Belgium office and Belgium facing specialists

20/21 Masterpieces - cross-category, cross-platform:

  • Identify key works for future sales and put a strategy around the business getting
  • Work with the object team in 20/21 to ensure data is consistent with the global approach

Sale Support for Paris Sales:

  • Partner with the 20/21 client strategy team to support the Paris sales
  • Lead on Client Strategy support for all major Top Collections in Paris
  • Provide the Paris based Design team with European sourcing ideas, manage the EMEA Design collection list, carry out annual CTL reviews for the top Design specialists based in Paris and attend the global weekly Design pipeline meetings

Top Client Engagement:

  • Provide the President of France with full support around any top client engagement programme that is undertaken (1+ or international focused events)
  • Support with key client names for other sale related events, in partnership with the Analyst

Top Client Data Management & Briefings:

  • Oversee the production of any briefing documents requested by key business getters (i.e. family trees, object reports etc)
  • Debrief the President of France once a week re: her business leads etc
  • Regularly debrief business getters (see list attached) following their visits, escalating any business to the correct international forum if needed

Business Intelligence and Development:

  • Oversee that all data on French and Belgian clients is appropriately and timely entered into the database

New Buyers:

  • Identify high potential new buyers for development and if appropriate, review at Sequel Meetings
  • Highly organised and proven ability to multitask, showing a high level of sensitivity to confidential information
  • Excellent professional communication and stakeholder management skills with colleagues at all levels
  • Detailorientated with strong analytical skills
  • Able to prioritize, manage time effectively and work under pressure to tight deadlines, whilst keeping an eye on longerterm projects
  • Database management skills
  • Good knowledge of Christie's systems
  • Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Flexible team player with demonstrable initiative and creativity
  • Willingness to work outofhours at busy times of the year
  • Fluency in French and English essential and other European languages welcomed
