    Centeon (stealth mode) is a low-carbon chemicals company. Our vision is to develop and to scale a breakthrough pathway for the low-energy, low-carbon production of commodity chemicals in service of today's energy transition.

    Job Mission:

    We are looking for a research scientist/engineer with a strong background in analytical chemistry. This person with lead metrology and liquid assay development for bioprocess monitoring, working closely with our Chief Scientific Officer and the rest of our world-class technical team. The work will involve metabolite quantification in liquid samples from our proprietary bioreactors using liquid chromatographic techniques and/or (bio)chemical assays and to improve our understanding of reaction kinetics in our proprietary bioprocess. It will also expand into doing in-situ gas analysis as we integrate gas chromatography in our multiplexed reactor test station and cross-analysis of these growing datasets. This exciting position is a great role for an early-stage researcher with a background in analytical chemistry to transition into bioproduction and bioprocess development. It is a highly collaborative role and the candidate will be working with a diverse and stellar group of scientists and engineers who are sprinting to develop and deploy our novel bioprocess in customer sites by as early as spring 2025.

    Competencies:

    Ideal candidates for the role will have the following competencies and experience:

    • MS or PhD in analytical chemistry with a strong background in metrology and different analytical techniques
    • Track record and research experience: minimum of one research "wet lab-based" internship (of at least 6 months) or extended research work (MS or PhD thesis) with a significant metrology/quantification component; candidates with previous full-time experience in industry preferred
    • Experience in methods development for product and metabolite quantification in liquid samples using liquid chromatographic techniques (HPLC, IC, etc.) and/or (bio)chemical assays
    • Experience in metabolite analysis in service of bioproduction or bioprocess development is a plus
    • Experience in (in-situ) gas evolution studies from (bio)chemical reactors is a plus
    • Track record of being consistently organized in the lab and managing multiple projects running in parallel
