    A revolutionary plant biotechnology company committed to pioneer a global industry towards nature tech over machines are looking for an innovate R&D Director to join their team. Leveraging a new generation of air purifying tech, they are dedicated to developing high-performance plants that thrive in diverse environments while minimising environmental impact.

    The ideal candidate will play a key role in leading diverse teams within an agricultural setting, as well as have an in depth understanding of the technical advancements within plant biology. You will spearhead our mission to harness the power of nature through innovation, driving the creation of groundbreaking biotechnological solutions for environmental challenges.

    Responsibilities:

    • Recognise new scientific discoveries as well as commercial prospects to enhance our technical roadmap, proprietary technology, and product vision.
    • Oversee a diverse team of more than twenty scientists, engineers, technicians, and students from around the world with a range of technical specialties.
    • Make sure the R&D strategy incorporates cutting edge technologies as well as realistic techniques that are required to accomplish our goals in the shortest amount of time and effort.
    • Ensure that R&D initiatives are managed effectively and efficiently from inception to completion. Oversee experiment design, execution, and analysis to guarantee projects are completed on schedule and to the highest possible levels of quality.
    • Assure appropriate strategic and scientific justifications for project prioritization, pushing, holding, and stopping from the idea to the finished product phases.
    • Establish and preserve connections with our academic communities, industrial partners, outside research institutes, and scientific advisory board in order to take advantage of scientific developments and look into joint venture options.
    • Clearly and concisely explain intricate scientific ideas and progress updates to all relevant parties within the organization, always keeping business objectives in mind.
    • Work together with stakeholders in legal and compliance matters to safeguard intellectual property and guarantee that all R&D projects and goods meet legal requirements.

    Background:

    • PhD in bioinformatics, metabolism engineering, molecular biology, or a similar discipline.
    • More than ten years of expertise in the field of biology, including in silico modeling, plant physiology, metabolism engineering, plant molecular biology, and plant in vitro culture and transformation.
    • Significant expertise in the industry managing a group of more than ten researchers and developers, with a proven track record of creativity and fruitful product creation.
    • Strong grasp of molecular biology and genomics concepts; familiarity with plant genetics and breeding techniques is preferred.
    • Excellent critical and creative thinking skills, with the capacity to convert intricate research into workable business plans.
    • Motivated person with a problem-solving mindset during persistently challenging circumstances.
    • Strong communication abilities with the capacity to explain complex ideas to a range of stakeholders, such as software developers, breeders, and biologists.
