- Leading the Metabolic Health research & innovation strategic and execution program in alignment with business partners.
- Proactively proposing innovative solutions based on the latest scientific and technological trends, delivering benefits and claims aligned with consumer needs in the Metabolic Health segment.
- Developing research activities, including data science, preclinical, and clinical studies, to build scientific dossiers and claim substantiations for supporting innovations. You will translate complex scientific information into easily understandable messages.
- Collaborating with the IP team to develop an IP protection plan for Innovation.
- Effectively communicating scientific findings both internally and externally, contributing to raising Symrise's scientific profile in the Health sector.
- Scouting and assessing scientifically relevant partnerships and potential acquisitions for the Metabolic Health segment.

Job Purpose and Impact of this newly created role:
As the Metabolic Health Scientific Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our mission to create science-based, differentiated innovations in Metabolic Health for humans and pets. Your responsibilities will include:
As a Metabolic Health Scientific Manager, you should possess the following qualifications and competencies:
Subject Matter Expertise: You must have a strong scientific background in Metabolic Health, including expertise in glucose management, weight management (with knowledge of the roles played by the gut microbiome and inflammation), and a proven track record of designing and conducting clinical studies.
Natural Ingredients Knowledge: A deep understanding of how natural ingredients, such as botanical bioactives and microbiome modulators, contribute to Metabolic Health is essential. Previous innovation experience in this field, along with an understanding of both BtoB and BtoC players (for Humans and Pets, ideally), is highly valuable.
Scientific Program Leadership: You should have a demonstrated ability to design and execute scientific programs, covering data science, preclinical, and clinical stages. This includes successfully developing active products and meticulously documenting their efficacy.
Scientific Network: A robust scientific network related to Metabolic Health is beneficial. You should also possess a solid grasp of Good Clinical Practices, statistics, and an understanding of regulatory requirements for substantiating health claims.
Business Acumen: Demonstrated ability to communicate and persuade business partners about the potential of scientific findings to address unmet needs for individuals concerned about their metabolic health.
Teamwork: Strong teamwork skills are essential for collaborative innovation, from concept ideation through to successful launch.
Additional Requirements: PhD degree in a relevant field, with significant experience in the Food industry, specifically in R&D/Innovation roles, and proven success in working effectively within a multinational, culturally diverse, and matrix organizational environment. Experience in a biotech start-up is considered a valuable asset.
