    Description

    The Iron and Steel industry is a critical pillar of the European economy, providing around 300,000 direct and 1.6 million indirect jobs, and contributing an estimated cumulative added value of €82 billion annually in Europe. However, the industry relies heavily on fossil fuels and emits approximately 190 million tons of CO2 each year, accounting for 5% of the EU's overall CO2 emissions.

    In Europe, Steel is predominantly produced using the blast furnace/basic oxygen furnace (BF/BOF) route, which involves using coal as a feedstock to produce coke as a reducing agent for iron ore. This process enables the production of pig iron in integrated steel plants, which is then transformed into liquid steel and later into finished steel products. Despite being the most widely used method in Europe, this industrial process still emits approximately two tons of CO2 per crude steel, representing roughly 90% of EU steel emissions. Additionally, the iron-making phase is the primary contributor to the industry's carbon footprint, accounting for more than 80% of the overall emissions.

    GravitHy in a nutshell

    GravitHy is a new French company with global ambitions aiming to produce green and low-carbon Direct Reduced Iron at scale using renewable and low-carbon hydrogen generated through water electrolysis. The low-carbon iron produced can then be transformed into liquid steel within an electric arc furnace, which can either be integrated with the DRI plant or operated independently.

    Role and Background

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Energy Sourcing Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping the energy strategy for GravitHy's current and future operations, with a strong focus on Electricity and Renewable Gas. As the Strategic Energy Sourcing Manager, your mission will be to develop, execute and secure competitive, decarbonized energy sources for our electric-intensive industry. You will ensure that GravitHy remains at the forefront of sustainable energy procurement.

    Key Responsibilities:

    · Define and organize the sourcing of energy, with a primary focus on Electricity and Renewable Gas, for GravitHy's present and future projects.

    · Develop and implement a competitive energy sourcing strategy that aligns with GravitHy's sustainability goals.

    · Stay abreast of the evolving electricity market landscape and provide high-level decision recommendations.

    · Lead and engage in Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and decarbonization projects.

    · Set up and put in place with the Procurement director the energy procurement strategy

    · Foster relationships with key stakeholders including public administration and other partners

    · Collaborate closely with the project team, procurement, legal, and financing departments to ensure seamless execution.

    You will report to the Chief Growth Officer. The reporting structure, missions, and responsibilities of the position holder may be subject to change as per GravitHy's evolving needs and activities.

    Qualifications – Skills : finance, energy or public procurement

    Experience:

    · At least 7 to 10 years of experience of Energy Procurement in different industries profile

    Skills:

    · In-depth knowledge of the current electricity market and a comfort level with making high-level decision recommendations.

    · Prior experience in buying electricity on market, and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) is a must.

    · Familiarity with green gases and renewable energy sources and decarbonization projects.

    · Proficiency in Procurement Operations, including source-to-pay and source-to-contract processes, as well as digital tools.

    · Strong relationship management skills and exceptional communication abilities.

    · Proven ability to solve problems, coupled with an entrepreneurial mindset.

    · Results-driven with a strategic mindset and excellent negotiation skills.

    · Resilient and able to thrive under tight deadlines and pressure.

    · Understanding of technical aspects in heavy industries.

    · Familiarity with government regulations.

    · Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines.

    · Effective collaboration with colleagues from various departments and functions within the organization.
