    Nutropy develops the next generation of dairy products.
    Nutropy is a Venture-Backed French company that develops an animal-free plug & play milk replacement for large scale dairy applications through our precision fermentation technology. We produce milk proteins and fatty acids identical to those produced by cows to enable the production of cheeses that taste as good as conventional cheese but are more sustainable, healthier and better for the animals.

    Job description

    We are looking for a seasoned and skilled people leader who loves tackling challenging and impactful problems in a high-paced and collaborative environment. You'll guide a multidisciplinary team by leveraging your technical experience, skills in aligning & motivating team members, and ability to work with stakeholders across the organisation. You'll be responsible for hiring, retaining, growing and leading world-class scientists. You'll supervise the teams' work and ensure adherence to budgets and timelines.

    At Nutropy, your job will consist in the following:

    Support and Lead:

  • Be responsible for the management, growth and cohesion of our multidisciplinary scientific R&D team, ensuring effective communicaiton and adoption of Nutropy's vision and OKRs
  • Organize and coordinate R&D departments and projects to achieve objectives set by the Executive Management
  • Ensure a proper match between teams and the technical and financial resources (internal and external) required for project execution in coordination with the Executive Management
  • Establish, challenge and monitor the operational progress of R&D projects with the Executive Management, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met
  • Establish, challenge and monitor performance indicators (quality indicators) with the Executive Management
  • Act as the interface with various departments within the company
  • Guide Technical Strategy:

  • Participate in implementing the company's global scientific strategy
  • Monitor scientific literature and connect with partners of interest, continuously identifying and implementing cutting edge technologies to support cost effective innovation
  • Maintain technological and competitive intelligence
  • Help break down ambitious goals into actionable and achievable steps in conjunction with the Executive Management
  • Enable the company to continuously adapt its development or manufacturing processes
  • Prepare and present results, conclusions and technical recommendations to the team and Executive Management
  • Participate in Transverse Company Development:

  • Participate in funding applications
  • Mobilize and raise awareness about the company's projects with institutional partners, investors and/or various audiences
  • Skills we are looking for

    Education & Experience:

  • PhD or Master in biochemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology or similar relevant tracks
  • At least 10 years experience leading research projects and managing scientific teams in a time bound and milestone driven environment, ideally in industry work focused on recombinant protein expression using data-led approaches
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a strong execution focus
  • Experience in managing and generating a strong IP portfolio
  • Experience in strain engineering (including post-translational modifications), fermentation / bioprocessing and downstream processing (DSP) for recombinant proteins, HTP assay development, omics, bioinformatics, analytics, dairy / colloid science, food science etc are a strong plus
  • Experience using statistics and design-of-experiments based approaches to strengthen experimental design and enable robust data analysis
  • Experience streamlining effective processes to enable team execution of OKRs
  • Experience in solving team skill gaps and hiring world-class technical talent from role design through conducting interviews
  • Experience supporting team growth in regards to hard and soft skills and professional satisfaction and progression
  • Experience in the food industry, ingredient or dairy industry, with food grade constraints is a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and ideally in French
